US carmaker Tesla delivered 72,115 Chinese-made cars in October, down 2.6 percent from the previous month. Reuters reported this news citing the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
Sales of China-made Model 3 and Model Y vehicles were up just 0.6 percent from the same period last year.
On the other hand, Tesla’s rival BYD in China delivered 31,195 vehicles in October, up 5 percent from the previous month. Besides, it is 38.4 percent more than the same month last year.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk is prioritizing sales over revenue, especially in China. The electric car maker is under pressure from local rivals. Despite the huge discount, the company is not able to make much progress in capturing the market.
