On Saturday around 1 pm, a vehicle kept in the Institute of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) building was set on fire. A general diary has been made in Ramna police station in the name of unidentified BNP workers in this incident.
Dhaka Metropolitan Intelligence Police (DB) chief Mohammad Harun Or Rashid said that BNP activists set fire to the IDEB Building in Kakrail in the capital. Those who set fire to government buildings and buses, legal action will be taken against them after investigation.
Eyewitnesses said that a group of 15-20 people first set fire to two cars in front of the building during a chase between Awami League, BNP and police members in Kakrail area. Then they attacked the box containing the portraits of Bangabandhu and the Prime Minister. At one point they entered the building and started breaking the glass. AKM Abdul Motaleb, the Acting President of Bangabandhu Diploma Engineering Council, who witnessed the incident, said that there was a loss of around two crore taka.
He said, we stopped the Ansar in charge from firing because of the fear of setting fire to the building. But the way they attacked this building of professional organization is really sad.
