The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has announced its readiness to help develop Bangladesh as a regional aviation hub. The organization said that the Bangladesh aviation sector is walking in the right direction.
ICAO Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar gave this information at the official press conference on the closing day of the 58th Conference of the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in Dhaka for five days. The press conference was held at Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon on Thursday.
In the press conference, Carlos Salazar said that the plans taken to advance the civil aviation sector with the goal of building a developed Bangladesh in 2041 are really impressive. ICAO is also overwhelmed by this, the interest in women’s empowerment, especially in the aviation sector, must be appreciated globally.
Expressing their readiness to provide all kinds of cooperation to the civil aviation of Bangladesh, he said, mutual cooperation, training, management and various legal important expenses of ICAO were discussed in the conference. Under this we have signed a framework. Where we will cooperate with advice on training, guide and master plan based on the capacity of civil aviation of Bangladesh. His organization is ready to support Bangladesh in all policies and capacity building to make Dhaka’s dream of becoming a regional aviation hub a reality.
Commenting that proper education is also needed in the aviation sector, Carlos said that Bangladesh has taken various steps in all aspects. We hope that Bangladesh can play a special role in this sector. We want Bangladesh’s civil aviation sector to fully comply with all of the sustainability, long-term future plans that need to be adhered to. Only then can this sector move forward.
In the aviation sector of the country, what is the reason for stopping after many new airlines made their debut – the Secretary General of ICAO said to reporters – Maybe many things were licensed in the past according to ICAO rules or without proper screening. But now fresh approval is being given only if strict conditions are met in this regard.
Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA) Chairman Air Vice Marshal Mofidur Rahman and ICAO Asia Pacific Regional Director Tao Mao spoke at the press conference. BCAA Chairman said that the invited delegates are very optimistic about Bangladesh’s aviation, especially in the creation of a hub. For this, ICAO has promised to provide all kinds of support to bring qualitative changes by maintaining as much training, guidelines and standards as possible. Apart from this, importance has been laid on the major role of the aviation sector to strengthen the emerging economy of the country.
ICAO will provide capacity building training to the country’s civil aviation personnel, so that they can develop skilled human resources to realize the goal of becoming an aviation hub, the press conference said.
Civil aviation representatives of different countries also discussed the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, which was recently inaugurated in that five-day conference. They said the newly constructed third terminal has been developed as an incredible infrastructure with world-class facilities. They discussed at the conference how Bangladesh can make good use of these new opportunities. ICAO representatives said the third terminal is a very important foundation for becoming a regional hub.
Before this last Sunday, DGCA conference was held with 500 aviation representatives from 47 countries and 13 international organizations in Asia and the Pacific region.
