Baitul Aman Housing, Mansurabad Housing and Sunibir Housing in Adabar area under Mohammadpur police station of the capital have been disconnected from broadband internet since Tuesday. ISPAB, an organization of Internet service providers, said that this internet disconnection was created by Ariful Islam Tuhin, a cable operator of Dhaka North City, who cut the cables to expand his dominance over that area.
The organization complained, “Ariful Islam Tuhin, an illegal businessman located in the Adabar area of Dhaka North City, has taken all types of Internet connections in Baitul Aman Housing, Mansurabad Housing and Sunibir Housing area of Adabar from the morning of July 31 and October 10. Internet cables of all ISPs are cut in public. Later, when the ISPs tried to restore internet connection in the area, they were chased away with forceful intimidation.’
In such a situation, in an emergency meeting chaired by the ISPAB president in the evening, it was decided to stop the connection replacement until the problem is permanently resolved. As a result, more than 15,000 broadband connections in Adabar have been disconnected for more than 12 hours.
