Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that today’s Bangladesh is digital Bangladesh, recalling that she had promised to build a digital Bangladesh in the 2008 election manifesto. Now everyone has a mobile phone. Everyone uses online platforms.
She said, our aim is to improve the country. Free books are given to students. Two and a half crore students are getting scholarships. So that the country moves forward. We have done Digital Bangladesh, now our goal is to implement Smart Bangladesh. We supplied electricity to every house. I am teaching computer through lab. Training 6 lakh freelancers through learning and earning programme. They are earning by sitting in the union and working abroad.
Tuesday (October 10) in Bhanga Upazila of Faridpur district, the Prime Minister expressed her views at a public meeting of Awami League at Kazi Abu Yusuf Stadium. Meanwhile, she promised to establish a university in Faridpur if Awami League wins the 12th National Parliament election and comes to power.
Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Presidium Member Kazi Zafar Ullah also spoke in the meeting. Faridpur District Awami League President Shamim Haque presided over the event. Central leaders of Awami League also participated in the public meeting.
Earlier, at the inauguration ceremony of train movement on Dhaka-Bhanga route via Padma Bridge, the head of government said, “We have demonstrated today that we announced the construction of Padma Bridge with our own money after the foreign funding was stopped. I have once again proved that if Bengalis are united, no one can hold him back.”
Calling to stop the conspiracy in the future, he said, “I appeal to the Bengali nation – no one should play with the fate of the nation.”
Prime Minister’s younger sister Sheikh Rehana was also present on the occasion.
Minister of Railways Md. Nurul Islam Sujan presided over this event while the Munshiganj-2 Constituency Member of Parliament Shagufta Yasmin Emily, Army Chief General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed and Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen also spoke.
A video documentary on rail connectivity between Dhaka and Jashore was screened on the occasion.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railway Ministry ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury, Director General of Bangladesh Railway Kamrul Ahsan and Project Director Afzal Hossain were also present on the stage.
Five trains to run through Padma Bridge: Initially, five passenger trains have been planned to run through Padma Bridge. Among these five trains, two inter-city trains Chitra on Khulna-Dhaka route, Benapole Express on Dhaka-Benapole route will change the current route and ply through Padma Bridge to Dhaka. International train Maitri Express on Dhaka-Kolkata route will also change its route and run via Padma Bridge. It is also said in the proposal that the inter-city train Madhumati Express train running from Rajshahi to Gopalganj has also been planned to be brought to Dhaka through Padma Bridge from Rajshahi. Meanwhile, a plan has been taken to bring Nakshikantha Express, a mail train running on the Khulna to Gowalanda route, to Dhaka via Padma Bridge.
