The ‘National STEAM Olympiad-2023’ is underway in the country to prepare the young generation for the fourth industrial revolution. A Bootcamp of Olympiad was held on Tuesday at the University of Information Technology and Sciences-UITS campus to showcase the exceptional and innovative talent of students in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM). About one and a half hundred students of the university participated in the camp.
The Olympiad was conducted by the IQAC Director of the university, Engineer Mohammad Shafayet Hossain. He said that this camp is being held in different universities and educational institutions of the country. In addition to getting acquainted with STEAM education in the camp, the students registered their names in the camp. Besides, they also participated in quiz and project exhibition.
The iTesseract Technologies is doing this bootcamp across the country for the first time through the cooperation of the Ministry of Education. Mohammad Abdul Hamid, chief coordinator of National STEAM Olympiad, said that they are conducting bootcamps across the country to familiarize and prepare the students. Students of any educational institution including Madrasas, Polytechnics can participate in National STEAM Olympiad. In the meantime, this bootcamp has been held in over 100 educational institutions including various universities of seven divisions. Out of this bootcamp has been held in 7 universities including AIUB, IUB and RUET. This bootcamp will be held in more than 250 institutions.
It is worth noting that, a former Bangladesh cricket team captain and member of parliament Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, football team captain Jamal Bhuiyan and women’s football team forward Krishna Rani Sarkar are involved in this Olympiad as goodwill ambassadors. On July 23, the registration of STEAM Olympiad was inaugurated in the presence of the Minister of Education Dr. Dipu Moni.
