“Cyber Security Act is not only for journalists, it is for everyone,” said Bangladesh Press Council Chairman Justice Md. Nizamul Haque Nasim. Participating in a seminar and discussion meeting in Chuadanga, he said, ‘There is a specific law for journalists, which is the Press Council Act. The rest of the laws are not specific to journalists, these laws are the same for everyone. All laws are people-friendly in the prevailing style of the country. If it is not properly implemented then that law is anti-human.’
The Chairman of Bangladesh Press Council made this comment in the seminar and discussion meeting titled ‘Prevention of Yellow Journalism and Objective Journalism’ organized by Press Council at Chuadanga Circuit House on Thursday (September 14) in the morning.
Justice Md. Nizamul Haque Nasim also said, ‘In 1974 Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman enacted the Press Council Act for the journalists of this country. Where various clauses are mentioned regarding the interests of journalists. According to him, journalists will be judged by the Press Council Act. This is basically a journalist-friendly law.’
Chuadanga Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kissinger Chakma chaired the seminar and discussion meeting. Bangladesh Press Council Secretary Shyamal Chandra Karmakar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Nazmul Hamid Reza, Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Riazul Islam and others spoke as special guests. Various media workers working in Chuadanga participated in the seminar.
