Information Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr. Hasan Mahmud said, BNP failed in the movement and relied on Dr. Yunus, took refuge in his issue.
He said, “Those who do the politics of killing, do the politics of burning people, do destructive politics, those who are born on blood, whose politics are on blood, the country can not progress with them.”
The minister commented so, at the National Press Club on Topkhana Road in the capital on Wednesday afternoon while spraking as the chief guest at the unveiling of the book ‘Bedonatur August 1975 Shahidder Alekhya’ by Professor Dr. Jebunnesa, Professor of Jahangirnagar University .
The Broadcasting Minister said, ‘With due respect to Dr. Yunus, I want to say, be a Nobel laureate, be a president, or be a prime minister; no one is above the law. Anyway Hussain Muhammad Ershad was in power for 9 years. He has been tried, he has also served jail time. Begum Khaleda Zia was a prime minister, she is also being punished. US President Donald Trump is on trial. Many Nobel laureates have been tried and even gone to jail. And, because Mr. Yunus has received the Nobel Prize, is it waived to pay the worker’s debt!’
Minister Hasan said, ‘It is the misfortune of this nation that those who seized the state power on the basis of blood, formed political parties and got some votes in the country. Even in 1970 some votes were cast for them against Awami League. Their generation still exists.’
He said, ‘Ziaur Rahman united all anti-freedom and reactionaries and formed a party. Today, that group talks big, picketing foreign embassies day and night. But all those pursuation did not work because no one supported their caretaker government, neutral government idea.’
Regarding the image of the country and the government in the international arena, the Information Minister said, ‘French President Emmanuel Macron is coming on the 10th. The Russian Foreign Minister is also coming tomorrow. This proves that the world community is with us.
Hasan said, ‘Inspite of not being a member of the G-20 conference in New Delhi on the 9th, India, the current chair of the world’s top 20 countries in industrialization, invited only our Prime Minister Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina from South Asia. This also proves that our relationship with India is at such a high level.
Referring to 1971 and 1975, Awami League’s joint general secretary Hasan said, ‘Father of the nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who roared in the face of the enemy, made politics with death in hand and made the country independent. And the biggest conspirators of killing Bangabandhu were Khandaker Mushtaq and Ziaur Rahman.
The killers have been tried, but the next generation will know the planners of Bangabandhu’s murder, and will know the history, only if all those who failed in their duties are tried through an independent commission demanded by many organizations and people, including the journalist community, said the minister.
Dhaka University former vice-chancellor professor AFMS Arefin Siddique presided over the ceremony and MP Sultana Nadira, Awami League advisory board member Professor Farzana Islam, Emeritus Professor Artist Hashem Khan; Afroza Jamil, daughter of Martyr Colonel Jamil; Martyr Sheikh Russell’s classmate Professor Gitanjali Barua, Natyajan M Hamid, BFUJ Former Secretary General Abdul Jalil Bhuiyan, General Secretary of National Press Club Shyamal Dutta, President of Bangladesh Asiatic Society Mahfuza Khanam and others spoke.
The program started and ended with a patriotic song sung by Upoma Pal and was moderated by journalist Ihita Jalil.
Information Minister mourns the death of Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader’s sister
The Information Minister and Joint General Secretary of Awami League Dr. Hasan Mahmud expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of Bangladesh Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader’s sister Ferdous Ara Pakhi. Saddened by the news of Ferdous Ara Pakhi’s last breath at the age of 70 while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital on Wednesday, the minister prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.
