Officially, two more science and technology universities are going to be established in the country. Among these, ‘Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University of Science and Technology, Narayanganj’ will be placed in Narayanganj. And ‘Satkhira University of Science and Technology’ will be in Satkhira.
In the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Prime Minister’s office on Monday, two separate draft laws were approved for the establishment of these two universities. After a press conference at the Secretariat, the Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain conveyed the decision of the meeting.
He said that two draft laws have been approved in principle for the purpose of creating science and technology universities in Narayanganj and Satkhira districts.
The two draft laws are ‘Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University of Science and Technology, Narayanganj Act, 2023’ and ‘Satkhira University of Science and Technology Act, 2023’.
Minister of Education Dr. Dipu Moni, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak was also present among and other ministers.
