Considering the volume, importance and data security of data, the meeting regarding the review of the activities to strengthen cyber security decided to declare 5 more government institutions as Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) last Wednesday. Although the names of the institutions were not disclosed that day, the names of the 5 institutions were disclosed by the president of the meeting, the ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak. According to the information provided by the State Minister, the institutions are Surokkha Platform, BRTA, Land Records, Police Headquarters and RAB.
According to sources, representatives of all these 5 organizations were present in the meeting of that day, although not at a high level. Representatives of previous 29 institutions were also present. The ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak presided over the meeting that day. The ICT Division Secretary Md. Samsul Arefin, BGD e-GOV CIRT Project Director Md. Saiful Alam Khan, Digital Security Authority Director General Abu Saeed Md. Kamruzzaman were present. The meeting reviewed the security measures of 29 Critical Information Infrastructures.
These institutions are – President’s Office, Prime Minister’s Office, Bangladesh Bank, National Board of Revenue, Bangladesh Data Center Company Limited, Bridge Division, Directorate of Immigration and Passport, National Data Center, Bangladesh Computer Council, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), National Identity Registry Division, Election Commission Secretariat, Central Procurement Technical Unit, Sonali Bank Limited, Agrani Bank Limited, Janata Bank Limited, Rupali Bank Limited, Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Establishment Project, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Immigration-Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Telecommunication Company Limited (BTCL) , Bangladesh Power Development Board, Power Grid Company of Bangladesh, Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited, Central Depository Bangladesh Limited, Bangabandhu Satellite Company Limited, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission, Civil Aviation Authority Bangladesh, Registrar General’s Office, Birth and Death Registration, Dhaka Stock Exchange Limited and Chittagong Stock Exchange.
The government declared these 29 institutions as Critical Information Infrastructure-CII by issuing a notification on 21 September 2022. With the addition of 5 new ones, the total number of Critical Information Infrastructure in the country stands at 34.
