Tech giant Google may take more time to unveil Find My Device. Google has confirmed that it may take some time to start rolling out the upgraded version of the Find My Device feature. The revised version was supposed to help Android users track Apple devices.
But, it is believed that the technology to keep the tracker private is not ready for release right now, which is delaying the launch of the new feature.
The reason for the delay is believed to be that Apple is yet to bring the privacy feature to iOS, which is why it is taking time for the feature to roll out for Android users.
“At this time we have decided to hold the rollout of Find My Device Network until Apple implements security for iOS,” Google said in its blog post.
At Google I/O earlier this year, Google announced that it was bringing millions of devices to the Find My Device network and making it compatible with devices supported by Apple’s platform. But, this system may call into question the overall privacy. For which both companies are complying with new security policies and technologies, which Apple has yet to implement for iOS.
It is not clear when the full rollout of this feature will happen. Google has talked about a timeline for the end of the year, but it needs Apple’s support to come up with it. So for now, there is no option but to keep an eye on the updates from both the companies, so that the unified tracker alert gets notified immediately.
