Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (51) and his wife Sophie (48) Gregoire have announced their separation. The Prime Minister himself confirmed this information on social media Instagram. This information was reported in an online report of BBC on Wednesday (August 2). Through this, Trudeau-Sophie couple’s 18-year married life ended.
“After many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have decided to part ways,” Justin wrote in an Instagram post. Our love and respect for each other will always be what we have done.
A statement from the Canadian Prime Minister’s office followed the post. The Trudeau couple is said to have signed the divorce papers. They wanted to keep the separation a secret for the sake of their children, but in the end they could not make it.
Justin Trudeau and Sophie got married at the end of May 2005. They have three children.
Trudeau has often publicly praised his wife. Last April, on Sophie’s birthday, Trudeau posted two selfies on social media with captions to express his immense love and wrote, ‘So far and through everything, there’s no one I’d rather have by my side.’
In a Mother’s Day post last May, Justin praised Sophie and his mother as the strongest, bravest and greatest human beings. Sophie later praised her husband in a Father’s Day post in June and wrote, ‘This man can carry the love he has for his children anywhere.’
