The 5th BPO Bangladesh Conference has been started on Saturday at the Ruposhi Bangla Grand Ballroom of Hotel InterContinental in the capital, expressing the determination to find new markets in this sector including business outsourcing beyond the borders of the country and provide the best technology services. Plans came out to take this conference to the district levels in the future. In the event, awards were distributed among the Divisional and District Administrations. While speaking as the Chief Guest of the meet, the Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury said that, ‘BPO is an emerging field to advance the technology sector and create new employment. So BPO should be introduced to common people. This two-day fair will play a big role in the positive expansion of the country’s economy and spread to the outside world. And will create opportunities to earn foreign currency’.
Urging to provide opportunities to women in BPO, the Speaker said that women can enter this profession by working at home. Bangladesh is moving forward with their talent and labor. The outsourcing pool is important to us. AI is the talk and reality around the world. It will affect us in many ways in the future. But there is a man behind it. So human needs will never run out. AI will not ‘eat out’ our jobs. These people will create them. So to develop new skills one should get latest technology training. So in some cases you have to be careful in this transformation.
Calling on the use of technology in the crisis and an open mind to develop new skills, Dr. Shirin Sharmin said that it is possible to face new challenges only through the skills, talent and labor of our people. Our IT has proven this.
While speaking as the Special Guest, the BTRC Chairman Shyam Sundar Sikder urged the UGC to include updated technology lessons for the youth.
The ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak, while speaking as the President said, ‘AI is my daily companion nowadays. It bridges my linguistic gap’.
In this regard, he expressed the government’s acceptance in combining artificial intelligence with natural intelligence. He said, we are ensuring action-oriented education from Certificate based to create smart citizens to implement Vision 2041. Government is now creating problem solvers by teaching coding in elementary levels.
The state minister also said that there is no alternative to smart employment to build a future smart economy. For this, it has started developing 1 lakh skilled workers in future technologies like cyber security, chip designing, blockchain, AI and so on. The Internet has paved the highway. The electricity problem has also been resolved. As a result, 2 million jobs have been made possible in the BPO sector. In the last 5-10 years, it is becoming possible to earn a large amount of export income from as many hi-tech and software parks as possible. Now 57 universities of the country have taken the initiative to create research and innovation labs. We can ensure 1 lakh 9 thousand broadband internet connection through ISPAB immediately.
The BACCO President Wahid Sharif appreciated the cooperation received from the district administration in the first Divisional Conference and at the same time proposed to increase the advance corporate tax of BPO sector till 2031.
