The Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar called for the introduction of online specialist medical services in community clinics across the country in addition to creating awareness about the causes of tuberculosis including tobacco consumption. In this regard, he promised to provide technical support including high-speed digital connection.
The Minister made this promise at the National Consultative Meeting on Prevention and Control of Tuberculosis (TB) in Bangladesh organized by Bangladesh Parliamentary Forum for Health and Wellbeing at CIRDAP Auditorium in Dhaka on Wednesday. While speaking as the chief guest, the minister emphasized building a social movement with the collective efforts of all to achieve success in control.
Member of Parliament Principal Rowshan Ara Mannan MP, Nargis Rahman MP and Umme Fatema Najma Begum MP and ED Sasthya Sukher Foundation (Foundation for Health and Happiness) Dr. Nizam Uddin and others spoke while the Chairman of Bangladesh Parliamentary Forum for Health and Wellbeing Professor Dr. Habibe Millat, MP presided over the event.
Calling for building a social movement against tuberculosis, this pioneer of digital technology development said that social media can play a fruitful role for this movement. Meanwhile, the minister expressed optimism that any constructive proposal of the parliamentary caucus will play an important role in achieving the SDG by 2035 in controlling tuberculosis. He reiterated his commitment to provide all-out cooperation to community clinics like National Institute of Ophthalmology to introduce tuberculosis detection and online treatment services.
While peaking as the President, Dr. Habibe Millat, MP expressed his determination to make Bangladesh TB free by 2035.
Speakers in the program explained in detail the issues to be addressed to control tuberculosis. They said that under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, there has been an incredible transformation in the medical sector like other sectors in the country.
