The electricity generated from the country’s first floating solar power plant at Bulanpur in the northern district of Chapainawabganj has been connected to the National Grid. Solar panels have been installed using 50 percent of the 6-acre reservoir of a fish farm there. The entrepreneurs said that electricity is being produced at the rate of 800 kilowatts per day from the reservoir.
Jules Power Limited is producing solar power with its own financing in the Nawab Autorice Mill area located in Bulanpur, about 4 km from Chapainawabganj city. The 2.3 MW power plant has 8.8 MW solar panels floating on the water of the autorice mill owner’s reservoir. For this purpose, 3 acres out of the total 6 acres of water reservoir have been used. The rest of the solar panels are installed on the roof of the mill next to the reservoir. Power generation started from this center on Monday afternoon. And it has been connected to the national grid since Tuesday.
Jules Power, a private power generation company, is implementing this project in Chapainawabganj in the factory area of Nawab Auto Rice Mill. 2.5 MW electricity is being supplied daily to the rice mill from the plant in the fish farm which saves about 70 percent of the cost.
The State Minister for Power Nasrul Hamid Bipu posted on his Facebook page that the production capacity of the floating solar power plant is 2.3 megawatts . He said, as a result of this project, both fish and electricity will be available from the same reservoir.
