Mohammad Munir Chowdhury, Director General of the National Museum of Science and Technology, thinks that besides medicine, the benefits of small fish, olive oil, black cumin, pomegranate etc. should be mentioned in the prescription of doctors.
He expressed his thoughts at a seminar on ‘Scientific Diet: Role of Physicians’ organized for 42 BCS doctors undergoing the 45th Basic Training Course of the Institute of Child and Maternal Health at the National Museum of Science and Technology on Sunday (May 7).
Dr. Romana Afroz Lubna presented the main article in the seminar. .
Addressing the doctors in the seminar, Mohammad Munir Chowdhury said that doctors can play a big role in developing science-based eating habits to reduce drug dependence and make people health conscious. What the Holy Prophet (pbuh) said 1500 years ago about the multiple benefits of black cumin is scientifically recognized today.
“A recent study by the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, said that small fish increases the IQ of children, which is rich in fatty acids and micronutrients. If the doctors write in the prescription that children should be fed Mala, Dhela, Kachki and Puti fish in Bangladesh, it will have a far-reaching impact on public health,” added the Director General of The National Museum of Science and Technology.
Assistant course director Dr. Mir Walidul Islam also spoke at the seminar.
Before this, doctors visited the Museum’s solar garden, Biman zone, Titanic ship and other galleries. They were presented with historical evolutions of scientific inventions. At the end of the program, the doctors were given mementoes by the science museum.
