The Minister of Education Dr. Dipu Moni said that the 4th industrial revolution and the spread of artificial intelligence may leave billions of people unemployed. To meet this challenge created by technological excellence, technology and innovation-based education system must be ensured to create skilled human resources and build an innovation-dependent society.
While participating as a negotiator in the high-level conference titled ‘Growth Summit at the invitation’ of the World Economic Forum, the minister expressed her thoughts about the issu. It was informed in a notification of the ministry on Sunday (May 7).
The Education Minister participated in various high-level dialogues organized as part of this conference held in Switzerland on May 2-3. At this time, she commented that there is a need for radical reform of the education system in view of the growing digital inequality, and emphasized the close coordination between education, technology and employment.
He laid special emphasis on technology and technical education to ensure that the knowledge acquired during education does not become useless in the workplace.
While participating in the conference, the Minister of Education held a bilateral meeting with the founder and executive chairperson of the World Economic Forum, Professor Klaus Schwab, and the current president of the forum, Borg Brandt. At this time, she appreciated them for the global discussion on economic development and the effort to present these diverse thoughts on a common platform.
The Minister of Education highlighted the efforts taken by the government of Bangladesh during the difficult and challenging times of Covid-19 to keep the progress achieved in the education sector of Bangladesh uninterrupted. She urged the World Economic Forum to undertake an intensive and detailed research program on the negative effects technological innovation can have on the labor market, in addition to its many positive aspects.
