Tomorrow, on Friday (May 5, 2023) a lunar eclipse will occur in the solar system. The first lunar eclipse of the year will begin at 9.14 pm Bangladesh time on that day. Peak eclipse is likely to occur at 11.22 pm and end at 1.31 pm. A powerful telescope will be installed on the roof of the building of the National Museum of Science and Technology to observe this lunar eclipse. Mohammad Munir Chowdhury, Director General of the Museum said that those who are interested can observe it from there.
In a press release sent from the National Museum of Science and Technology on Thursday, he said, “If the weather is favorable i.e. the sky is clear, citizens or visitors will be able to see this lunar eclipse from the National Museum of Science and Technology.”
Apart from science in general, a lunar eclipse bears special importance in astrology too. In a lunar eclipse, the Earth remains between the Sun and the Moon, where the Earth’s shadow falls on the Moon and its light is dimmed.
And this eclipse is a penumbral lunar eclipse, that is, the dim dark part surrounding the Earth’s shadow is called the penumbra, which will make the full moon look a little dim when it falls on the moon. But neither full nor part of the moon will disappear from the earth. This lunar eclipse will be visible from most parts of the world. Which includes Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia and Antarctica.
