Mohammad Munir Chowdhury, Director General of The National Museum of Science and Technology, emphasized on creating awareness among science clubs to deal with the worldwide risk of global warming.
He made this call at the seminar held at the National Museum of Science and Technology on Wednesday. Strengthening this call, Rekha Rani, Additional Secretary (Administration) of the Ministry of Science and Technology said that individual awareness can have a big impact in preventing global warming. Pollution levels can be reduced through individual awareness.”
During the presentation of the main article in the seminar, the director of the Department of Environment (Dhaka Research Office) Dr. Sohrab Ali said, “Environment and climate change is a global challenge. Not a particular region or population, people all over the world are facing the harmful effects of climate change. Addressing the threat of climate change will require a concerted effort by every country in the world. Deforestation should be stopped, plantation and afforestation should be increased. Man’s mistreatment of nature must be stopped.”
While speaking as the President, Munir Chowdhury, Director General of Science and Technology Museum said, “Government officials have to play their role in facing the challenge of climate change. Poor countries have to bear the burden of pollution from the world’s top rich countries. The rich should reduce their luxury. Science clubs need to develop wider environmental awareness at the community level. Citizens have to be eco-friendly in parallel with fulfilling the duties of government offices.”
Participants from various government and private institutions, students of various schools and colleges, teachers and representatives of various scientific organizations participated in the event.
