Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar said that smart people are needed to build a smart Bangladesh. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has brought Bangladesh to a tech-savvy position through the Digital Bangladesh programme.
He said that by 2041, there is no alternative to continue the ongoing struggle to build a smart citizen, smart nation, smart economy and smart society. The minister urged the social and cultural organizations including the youth to come forward to inspire the youth to acquire technology skills along with the government with the aim of building a smart Bangladesh.
The minister made this call while speaking as the chief guest at the 36th year celebration and inauguration of the Greater Mymensingh Youth Association organized at the IDEB Bhaban auditorium in Dhaka on Saturday night.
Greater Mymensingh Youth Association President Barrister Motasim Billah Farooqui presided over the event while State Minister for Social Welfare Md. Ashraf Ali Khan Khosru, Member of Parliament Anwarul Abedin Khan, Umme Fatema Nazma Begum and Additional Secretary of Ministry of Labor and Employment Jebunnesha Karim spoke.
The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications said that Greater Mymensingh district has a glorious continuity of historical townships.
Kishoreganj, Jamalpur, Tangail, Netrakona, Mymensingh and Sherpur, these 6 districts have been transformed into various interaction centered on civilization including topography, history, society, politics, culture. The people of this region are very backward due to various reasons. The only way to overcome the backwardness and move forward is to make the young people here as digital human resources. The minister mentioned that the youth society should come forward to take the role to make the youth as a suitable human resource.
He said that the youth should utilize the opportunity of self-employment by creating digital skills. Starting from the hills of Madhupur to Haor regions, boys and girls are earning foreign currency at home by using the opportunity of digital connectivity.
This pioneer of digital Bangladesh said that the conventional era in agriculture has come to an end. Agriculture of the future will depend on technology. The conventional farmer also needs to know how to use a smart phone. Learn how to use IoT devices to make fisheries and agriculture more profitable at low cost. Greater Mymensingh is a predominantly agricultural region. Industrial factories were almost non-existent. In this region, especially in Netrakona and Kishoreganj, there are extensive haors. 25 percent of the country’s total rice production is produced in this region. Machines have now eased human labor in harvesting and threshing. Rice mills are not built here. There is a need for planned fisheries initiatives to exploit the Haor water resources. The minister expressed hope that the youth committee will play an important role in motivating the youth in technology education and setting up technology education institutes. He said the government is building the highway of digital connectivity. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has become the 35th strongest country in the world economy. Bangabandhu’s Sonar Bangla will be developed through the establishment of Smart Bangladesh by utilizing the opportunities of technology.
