About 500 million WhatsApp users’ personal information has been leaked. Recently this sensational claim was made by a popular hacking forum. It is reported that this huge amount of information is already being sold online by hackers.
According to the report, the latest data of 2022 has a total of 487 million mobile numbers. There are phone numbers of 84 countries.
Around 200 million users worldwide use WhatsApp regularly. If this claim of the hacking community is true, the information of one out of every 4 WhatsApp users has reached the hackers.
Of this large number of data, about 32 million numbers are from the United States, 11 million numbers are from Britain. There are also 45 million numbers in Egypt, 35 million in Italy, 29 million in Saudi Arabia, 20 million in France, 20 million in Turkey and 10 million in Russia.
Hackers have started selling this information separately according to each country online. It costs $7,000 to buy the personal data of 3.2 million WhatsApp users in the United States. Meanwhile, the private information of 11 million WhatsApp users in Britain is being sold for two and a half thousand dollars.
