German Ambassador to Bangladesh Akhim Traoster has expressed his interest in working with the university administration in various research projects at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST).
The Ambassador expressed his mind during a courtesy meeting with SUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed at noon on Wednesday (31 August).
At that time, Akhim Traoster said, as the country’s first Science and Technology University, we want to work together in various research projects of SUST. Our cooperation will always continue to improve the quality of university research. Finally, he expressed his satisfaction with the overall situation of the university and praised the Vice-Chancellor for the proper leadership. After that he visited the labs of different departments of the campus.
SUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed said SUST is one of the best universities in Bangladesh. This university has many achievements including the first online admission program in the country, the invention of Bengali search engine Pipilika (The Ant), and so on. Currently SUST has progressed a long way in terms of education as well as research.
At this time, among others, the wife of the German ambassador, Bettina Traoster, the treasurer of the university, Professor Dr. Md. Anwarul Islam, Head of Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Dr. Mohammad Abdullah Al Soeb and Associate Professor Dr. Ajit Ghosh were present.
University Treasurer Dr. Md. Anwarul Islam, Head of Department of English Professor Dr. Hossein Al Mamun, Proctor Ishrat Ibn Islam, Director of the Institute of Modern Languages Professor Dr. Alamgir Taimur, US Embassy English Language Coordinator Shawn Karmakar and Regional English Language Program Specialist Bishwa Raj Gautam were also present at that time.
