Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina hoped that a modern technology cineplex will be set up in upazilas as well. At the same time, referring to herself as a movie-lover, she said, “When I go by air, I watch local movies. I like the productions very much. I also watch if someone sends pictures to the pen drive. It’s nice to see a movie. We have latent talent in our country. I am fascinated by their work.”
She made the remarks while addressing a video call from her office at the National Film Awards-2020 ceremony held at Bangabandhu International Conference Center on Wednesday (March 23) at 12:30 pm.
Speaking as the Chief Guest, the head of government said, this is the age of information technology. Our film industry remained largely analogous. I want to see these, equipped with the modern technology.
She said, “I have already offered our full support to the owners of the Theatres. Due to some dilly-dally, many of them didn’t take the initiative. Now we have created a separate fund of one thousand crore Taka. I want these cinema or cineplex to be built in all our districts and Upazilas. Where movies can be shown using modern technology.”
She advised them to remake the old movies.
Besides, the Prime Minister urged the rich to donate more money in the trust fund set up to help those involved in the film industry.
Today, a total of 32 people in 27 categories have been awarded the National Award-2020. Minister of Information and Broadcasting Hasan Mahmud handed over the medals on behalf of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. .
Famous two vetaran actors: Anwara Begum and Raisul Islam Asad received the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s National Film Awards. Gore, directed by Gazi Rakayet, a talented producer and actor, has won a maximum of 11 awards. Chayanika Chowdhury’s ‘Biswasundari’ is in the second position with 8 awards. And for the same movie, Gazi Rakayet got maximum 4 awards as a person.
Actor Raisul Islam Asad has received the lifetime achievement award. However, the veteran actress Anwara, who received the joint lifetime achievement award, could not accept the award in person. Her daughter actress Mukti has accepted it for her.
