The Police have rescued a chartered accountant who tried to commit suicide by taking sleeping pills on Facebook Live. On Tuesday (March 1), somebody called the National Emergency Service at 999 and the man was rescued by police from a house in Bhatara police station area and was admitted to hospital.
The 45-year-old took 32 sleeping pills after announcing his suicide on Facebook Live. He tried to commit suicide because of family problems, anger and frustration over his mother-in-law. He is a partner of a chartered accountant firm at Gulshan in Dhaka.
A 999 inspector Anwar Sattar said that on Tuesday (March 1) at noon, a caller called 999 and informed that a colleague of his office had come live from Bhatara’s house and announced his suicide on Facebook. Constable Sarwar, the call taker of 999 immediately informed the duty officer of Bhatara police station of DMP accordingly.
Later, Sub-Inspector (SI) of 999 Abdul Jabbar kept in constant touch with the caller and all concerned to get updates on the police activities.
He said that, a police team from Bhatara police station rushed to the spot after receiving the news. They went to the spot and rescued the person attempted for committing suicide lying unconscious on the sofa by opening the door with the extra key of from the driver of that house. He was then sent to Evercare Hospital for treatment.
Bhatara Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Mizanur Rahman said the man who attempted to commit suicide is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU of Evercare Hospital in the capital.
