bKash, the country’s largest mobile financial services provider, has sponsored the development of Jessore College library to enhance students’ abilities through the use of information technology. As part of its social responsibility, bKash has taken this initiative to create more opportunities for more than one thousand students to acquire knowledge at this top educational institution in the region.
Kamal Qadir, CEO of bKash, officially inaugurated the modern digital library on 17 February 2022 at the college premises. Principal of the college Mustaq Hossain, Chief External and Corporate Affairs Officer of bKash Major General Sheikh Md. Monirul Islam (Retd.), Chief Communications Officer Mahfuz Sadiq and member of the governing body of the college Advocate Mahmud Hasan Bulu were present on the occasion.
The library is equipped with four computers, advanced technology laser photocopy printers and other necessary equipment to create opportunities for students to acquire information technology skill. The library is aesthetically arranged to create a seamless reading environment for students. The development of this library infrastructure has created opportunities for more books to be collected, stored and used.
It is to be noted that bKash has been associated with book distribution since the beginning of its journey. As a corporate organization responsible for inculcating the habit of reading books among the next generation, bKash has been associated with the book reading program of Biswa Sahitya Kendra since 2014. So far, bKash has provided 2,53,600 books to 2,900 educational institutions from which 2.6 million readers have benefited. Besides, for the last eight years, bKash has been coming up with cashback for buying books on the occasion of book fair. Besides, bKash has been working with Bangla Academy as the main sponsor of Amar Ekushey Book Fair for the last five years.
