The government decided to create four platforms to build the e-commerce platform on a strong and credible base. As per the decision, in the meantime, the Unique Business Identification (UBID) number, CCMS has been prepared by the a2i of the ICT department for resolving central complaints. The Ministry of Commerce completed the soft launch of these two platforms on Sunday.
However, the inter-operable transaction platform ‘Binimoy’ is in the final stage. It will take another six months to launch. As no progress has been made in the logistic tracking platform of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications, a2i will complete this platform within the same time with the approval of the Ministry of Commerce.
State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak said this after a meeting held at the Ministry of Commerce.
He said, “The Unique Business Identification (UBID) application has been created for the registration of digital commerce entrepreneurs who are doing business by opening apps, or through Facebook or websites. From here they can easily register their business. We have also created a central grievance redressal platform so that their labor and integrity do not fail. We hope to be able to launch ‘Binimoy’ and digital logistics services in the next six months.”
At the same time, regarding the inability to launch the platforms, the State Minister said, “The Hon’ble Prime Minister herself has named our inter-operable digital platform ‘Binimoy’. We are preparing it in collaboration with Bangladesh Bank on the advice of Hon’ble Advisor Joy Bhai. It has already been demonstrated. But from the experience of Digital Hat, we are taking more time to fix the security, protection and accountability of this platform according to its breadth. We will open in six months without hastily inaugurating such a big sensitive and critical platform. The second is that there has been no progress in logistics tracking from the DG of the Post Division. The Commerce Minister has already decided that the money and technology required here will create our ICT division. We are taking another six months for this.”
Palak added, “By providing these digital solutions, we will be able to bring the fast-growing e-commerce system to an acceptable level in a very short period of time. We will be able to fulfill the ultimate goal of digital commerce by bringing back what happened due to the trust issues. ”
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi inaugurated the UBID app on the occasion. Meanwhile, Salman F. Rahman, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Private Industry and Investment, said that the process of digital transformation of business was a timely step towards overcoming the current crisis.
WIT Director General HM Shafiquzzaman presided over the function, which was presided over by Senior Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Tapan Kanti Ghosh.
The head of the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) Masud Biswas, FBCCI President Md. Jasim Uddin, President of E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) Shomi Kaiser, General Secretary Abdul Waheed Tamal, Additional IG of Police CID Barrister Mahbububar Rahman a2i Policy Adviser Anir Chowdhury, SB, Digital Security Agency, National Conservation Rights, National Consumer Rights Representatives of 16 organizations including the department were also present on the occasion.
