Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the ICT Adviser to the Prime Minister and the architect of Digital Bangladesh, has been awarded the ‘ASOCIO Leadership Award-2021’. The World Congress on Information Technology- WCIT 2021, a World Conference on Information and Communication Technology held in Dhaka on Friday night. On the second day of the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) announced the ‘ASOCIO Leadership Award’ to Joy.
On behalf of Sajeeb Wazed Joy, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak received the award for Joy at the ‘ASOCIO Award Night’ held at Bangabandhu International Conference Center.
Former Malaysian prime minister Tun Mahathir bin Mohamad received the award in 1997, then Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra in 2004 and prime minister Sheikh Hasina in 2010.
On behalf of ASOCIO chairman David Wong Nan Fay, immediate past chairman Bunrak Saraggananda handed over the award of this year.
ASOCIO former chairman Abdullah H. Kafi announced the award while Don Choi, Deputy Chairman of the Association and Bangladesh Computer Samity president Shahid Munir was present, among others.
The Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organisation (ASOCIO), an ICT federation organised by ICT associations representing 24 economies throughout Asia Pacific, conferred the award on Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
This year from Bangladesh, Computer Services Limited, Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC), Development of National ICT Infra Network for Bangladesh Government (Info-Gov), Boighar and Jatiya Swasthya Batayan (16263) have won ASOCIO awards in different categories.
Besides Bangladesh, Malaysia, Nepal, Thailand, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam are in the list ASOCIO Awards. KP of Nepal, IME Digital Solutions, Inlan Revenue, Ansel Axiata, National Blockchain Blood Center of Thailand have won the ASOCIO Awards this year.
Alhaj A. K. M. Rahmatullah, Chairman, Parliamentary Standing Committee, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Executive Director of the Bangladesh Computer Council Md. Abdul Mannan and Trustee of Liberation War Museum Mofidul Haque were present on the occasion while the state minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak presided over the function.
