NASA is about to end an important chapter in their history. The company’s chief scientist, Jim Green, who plans to retire in early 2022, has been working there for more than 40 years. News Engadget.
Shortly after joining NASA in 1980, he created the Alternative Space Physics Analysis Network. However, he is best known for overseeing NASA’s large space research projects over the past 15 years. He is a popular face among those who research about NASA or space research.
Since 2012 when Curiosity landed, he has been managing NASA’s Planetary Science Division. He has played a leading role in publicizing and promoting the details of the Mars rover in front of the public.
He has led the historic expeditions to spacecraft such as the Juno Probe sent to Jupiter, the Messenger in Mercury, Ceres Down, and New Horizon in Pluto. The scientist has planned the Green light of the Perseverance Rover currently orbiting the surface of Mars.
It is unknown at this time that what he will do after leaving the post. But he is expected to help find someone to replace him.
