Awami League Women’s Affairs Secretary and Member Secretary of the Women’s Affairs Sub-Committee Meher Afroz Chumki said women entrepreneurs are playing a big role in the country’s GDP.
Chumki made the remarks as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the Entrepreneurship Masterclass Advanced Series organized by Women and E-Commerce on Saturday.
Chumki said women were not given priority in various sectors before. Due to the priority given to women, by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and his government, entrepreneurs are being created in the country and the country is moving forward.
Describing the training in the Entrepreneurship Masterclass Advanced Series as timely, Meher Afroz said that although almost all types of businesses have been affected by the ongoing pandemic, digital platform-based businesses are still operating. He called on women to come forward on digital platforms.
Bikarna Kumar Ghosh, the managing director of the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority highlighted the various activities of the organization. He said the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority has so far provided free space to 143 startups. The Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority will support the women entrepreneurs who will be entrepreneurial in Fintech, Traveltech and other sectors.
Soumya Basu, the global advisor of WE, highlighted the various objectives of the masterclass.
Students from across the country took part in the event conducted by Nasima Akter Nisha, President of the Women and Commerce Forum (WEF).
