The Department of Information and Communication Technology has taken various initiatives to become self-reliant in social media and other digital platforms. State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that a video streaming platform would be set up along with local social media.
The state minister said this while participating in the inaugural function of the world-renowned ‘Entrepreneurship Masterclass 2.0’ series for women members of the Women and E-Commerce (WE) Forum, a networking platform for women entrepreneurs in the country.
Palak said, ‘Now the goal is to create a social media. We will have a medium, as an alternative to Facebook, so that our own entrepreneurs can be among themselves, an online marketplace for their data and their communication, an excellent group they can create themselves. So that we do not have to depend on foreign countries. We have self-reliance, that’s why we have taken the initiative to create a social media platform called ‘Jogajog’.
The state minister in his speech urged the members of Women and E-Commerce to use this social media platform from the very beginning.
He added that now there are various streaming platforms including YouTube where a lot of advertisements are given by our entrepreneurs. Where thousands of crores of taka are going out of the country; the government is not getting revenue. That’s why we have taken the initiative to create a streaming platform. Hopefully, we can make that in a short time.
Regarding the Zoom Alternative Domestic Platform ‘Boithok’, the state minister said a meeting on the ‘Boithok’ platform could currently be attended by more than 100 people. We are trying to get people from more than 300 accounts to attend a meeting at once.
“Once this capability is gained, Women & E-Commerce will be given the opportunity to use our own innovative meeting platform,” he said. Where they can use it for free for up to an hour. Over one-hour subscription will be offered at a very affordable price.
