Syed Sadia Hossain of Bangladesh has been recognized in the student category of IEEE, the largest organization of technical professionals in the world. This is the first recognition in this category for Bangladesh. She is jointly sharing the award with Anna Helen do Santos of Brazil.
Sadia, a graduate of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), received the award in recognition of her work for female students.
In the last year, she has implemented 18 initiatives for women engineering students. In the meantime, she conducted an ‘outreach’ program to make female students of higher secondary level interested in engineering.
The New York-based Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering has awarded Sadia this year as the ‘Inspiring Student Member of the Year’ in the Women in Engineering category. The top award in the professional category was also given to Sunita BV, a professor at TKM College of Engineering, Kerala in South India.
