In March last year, the first Corona patient was found in the country. Although the rate of corona infection was low at the beginning of this year, the number of infected patients started increasing again from March.
This has affected various commercial sectors as well as several sectors associated with the country’s IT business. These range from professionals involved in filling out online job applications to those involved in broadband internet and digital device sales.
According to them, they could not make up for the loss of last year’s lockdown. The country is going to be in the grip of lockdown again. Doubts have arisen among them surrounding the upcoming lockdown.
The national association of information and communication technologies companies in the country, Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS) President Shahid-ul-Munir said people in the country have become dependent on computers or digital devices in Corona. It will not be possible to make up for the loss of last year’s lockdown this year if the government does not declare IT products as an emergency product.
He further said that if govt does declare IT products as an emergency product, it will be possible to do everything normally by bringing the services related to IT equipment under emergency services.
Internet services have become part of the basic needs of the people of the country along with IT products. Although the internet service sector has been brought under emergency services, the broadband internet sector is worried about the upcoming lockdown.
Emdadul Haque, general secretary of the Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB), an organization of Internet service providers, said those connected to broadband internet services need to be on the go. Although the government has applied for the vaccine in several places, the results have not been as expected.
