Uttal BTRC has won a friendly cricket tournament held on the occasion of the birth centenary of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of independence. BTRC Director General Engineer Md. Mesbahuzzaman and ISPAB Secretary-General Imdadul Haque handed over the prizes to the winners on Friday evening.
Earlier, on the morning, a total of four teams from BTRC and IT Polly participated in the day-long cricket tournament held at Banani Shaheed Zain Ahmed Ground in the capital, organized by IT Polly, an organisation of Broadband internet service providers, software firms, hardware importers and some skilled system admins.
The teams are-Uttal, Durant, Durbar and Nirvoy. After winning both the matches, Uttal BTRC faced Durbar IT Polly in the final.
Durbar IT Polli scored 143 runs under team leader Sujan with the bat in the 16 overs match. In reply, THE BTRC, led by Deputy Director Zakir Hossain Khan, reached catch them with and scored 147 runs off 15 overs 2 balls.
They snatched the victory with 4 wickets and, Zahid of Uttal BTRC became the man of the final by scoring 36 runs With the bat while Jaber and Didar took 3 wickets each for the team.
Javed of BTRC Uttal also scored 6 runs in 3 overs in the first match. Rubel of Durbar IT Polli scored 69 runs in the second match. He became the man of the tournament.
Hamid became the best bowler of the tournament by taking 4 wickets in the tournament. He was unbeaten in the first match and Rezaul of BTRC became the best batsman in the tournament in the second match.
