Apple maintained its dominance in global smartphone sales in 2024, occupying seven of the top ten spots for the year’s best-selling devices. According to recent data from market research firm Canalys, the iPhone 15 emerged as the best-selling smartphone of the year. The report was published by GSM Arena.
Apart from Apple, Samsung was the only other brand to secure a place in the top ten. The South Korean tech giant’s Galaxy A15, A15 5G, and S24 Ultra made it to the list.
In 2024, a total of 1.22 billion smartphones were shipped worldwide, with the iPhone 15 accounting for 3% of the market share. This translates to 36.6 million units of the iPhone 15 sold within the year. The second and third spots were claimed by the iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro Max, respectively.
Samsung’s Galaxy A15 secured fourth place, breaking into the top five, followed by the iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 16 in the fifth, sixth, and seventh positions. The Galaxy A15 5G and Galaxy S24 Ultra ranked eighth and ninth, respectively.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 13, which was released three years ago, continued to maintain its popularity. It secured the tenth spot in the top ten list, with 18.3 million units sold in 2024.
