Mizanur Rahman Sohel, Head of the Online Division of Dainik Bhorer Kagoj, has been honored with the Global Star Award 2024 for his outstanding contributions to online journalism. The award was presented by former Justice of the Bangladesh Supreme Court, Faisal Mahmud Faizi, at a ceremony held on Friday (January 17) at a five-star hotel in Dhaka.
Organized by Global Star Communication, the Season-2 Award ceremony recognized excellence in various fields, including film, television drama, OTT platforms, music, dance, and journalism for the year 2023. Additionally, Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to legendary Bangla film actress Anwara, iconic Nazrul Sangeet artist Ferdous Ara, and NTV Director Nur Uddin Ahmed.
The jury panel for this year’s awards included Syed Margub Morshed, former secretary of the Ministry of Information; actress Rozina; ATN Bangla advisor Tashiq Ahmed; President of Television Reporters Unity of Bangladesh (TRAB) Salam Mahmud; choreographer Ivan Shahriar Sohag; Global Star Communication Chairman Mashayed Rahman Moon; and entertainment journalist Masid Ran.
Mizanur Rahman Sohel has been in journalism for over two decades. He became the head of the Bhorer Kagoj online division in 2023, following a seven-year tenure as the head of the online division of Dainik Jugantor. Under his leadership, Jugantor Online saw significant improvements in ranking and revenue growth, bringing him into the spotlight.
Currently serving as the General Secretary of the Online Editors’ Alliance—the flagship organization for online and digital division heads of the country’s leading news media outlets—Sohel has also authored 27 books on self-development, branding, marketing, education, and information technology.
