Apple’s next big iPhone upgrade will reportedly include a new model named the “iPhone 17 Air,” according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, as reported by TechCrunch.
Expanding the iPhone lineup appears to be a logical step for Apple, which has already used the “Air” branding successfully for its lighter and slimmer MacBook and iPad models. Compared to the “iPhone Plus” or “Mini,” the “iPhone Air” could offer greater appeal.
Gurman’s report suggests that the iPhone 17 Air will be Apple’s first smartphone to feature its own in-house modem, set to debut initially in the new iPhone SE model this spring.
Additionally, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to be Apple’s slimmest smartphone to date, reportedly 2 millimeters thinner than current iPhone models. This phone is also seen as a step toward Apple’s future development of foldable iPhones and iPads, which may launch in 2026 or later.
Gurman further noted that Apple may introduce a smart home hub in 2025 as part of its product lineup. However, there was no mention of a new version of Apple’s mixed reality headset, the “Vision Pro,” in the report.
