The members of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizen Committee have called for a gathering at the Shaheed Minar on December 31 at 3:00 PM. Coordinators Asif Mahmud and Hasnat Abdullah issued this invitation through their social media accounts, addressing their “comrades.” Their posts prominently feature the color red, emphasizing the urgency of participation with the phrase, “Now is the time, for Bangladesh.” Sarjis Alam further highlighted the significance of joining the event in his post.

The leaders of the student movement began sharing this call on Facebook from Saturday evening (December 28). Among them, advisor Asif Mahmud wrote on his personal Facebook account, “Comrades, Now or Never.”
The Member Secretary of the National Citizen Committee, Akhtar Hossain, posted on his account, “This year it will happen. December 31. In Sha Allah!”

Hasnat Abdullah, Convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, wrote, “Comrades, 31st DECEMBER! Now or Never.”
Another coordinator of the movement, Rifat Rashid, stated in his post, “All eyes on 31st December, 2024. Now or Never!” He hinted in the comment section that something significant is set to happen at 3:00 PM at the central Shaheed Minar.

Other members associated with the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizen Committee have also been posting about this event. According to several coordinators, the “Proclamation of the July Revolution” may be read at the Shaheed Minar during the December 31 gathering.
The coordinators likened this proclamation to the declaration of independence during Bangladesh’s Liberation War. They emphasized that it would outline the trajectory of the July Revolution and explain why the movement shifted from nine demands to a singular one, reflecting the aspirations of students and citizens.
Asif Mahmud and Hasnat Abdullah confirmed the proclamation in their recent statuses. Hasnat wrote, “Proclamation of July Revolution, 31st December, Shaheed Minar – 3.00 PM.” Similarly, Asif stated, “Proclamation of July Revolution.”
Umaima Fatema, spokesperson for the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, elaborated: “The proclamation will explain how Bangladesh transitioned from Sheikh Hasina’s authoritarian regime to the July Revolution, why the shift occurred, and the nature of student and public aspirations behind it.”
