Electric vehicle manufacturer BYD is set to introduce a driver training program aimed at enhancing skills and knowledge for operating New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), a relatively new segment in Bangladesh’s automobile industry. To this end, the company began its driver recruitment process on Thursday, which will continue until December 30.
The registration process for the training will commence on January 3. Interested individuals can register in person at the BYD Service Center in Dhaka from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The training sessions will run every Friday from January 10 to February 14, conducted by expert trainers from the BYD Service Center.
Participants will learn the fundamentals of driving NEVs, including both electric and hybrid vehicles, along with advanced techniques for operating them efficiently. Hands-on experience with BYD Sealion 6 model features will also be provided during the program.
The training sessions will cover theoretical and practical aspects of NEV operation, and all participants will receive a certificate upon completion. This certification is expected to enhance employment opportunities for drivers both within Bangladesh and abroad, particularly in regions where NEVs are widely used.
Amid Sakif Khan, Head of Business at BYD Bangladesh, stated, “We hope this initiative will encourage more people to embrace NEVs and contribute to Bangladesh’s zero-carbon emission goals. Simultaneously, this program will create new employment opportunities for participating drivers. We remain optimistic about reducing both unemployment and carbon emissions to ensure a prosperous future for the country.”
