The Bangladesh Association of Contact Center and Outsourcing (BACCO) celebrated its Fifth Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM), the 13th Annual General Meeting (AGM), and Members’ Night on Tuesday at the Sheraton Hotel in Dhaka. The evening commenced with the formal proceedings of two meetings, followed by a festive gathering of members.
The event began with the Fifth Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM), where BACCO proposed significant amendments to its institutional constitution to adapt to the growing advancements and innovations in technology that are influencing the global BPO industry. All members present unanimously approved the proposed amendments.
Following the EGM, BACCO held its 13th Annual General Meeting (AGM). During this session, BACCO’s General Secretary, Faisal Alim, presented the proceedings of the 12th AGM, an overview of BACCO’s activities and progress over the past year, and outlined potential future initiatives for the development of the BPO industry. Additionally, Treasurer Md. Aminul Haque presented the audited financial report for the fiscal year 2023-2024. Both reports were unanimously approved by the members.
In his welcoming remarks, BACCO’s Executive Committee President, Tanvir Ibrahim, discussed the progress of the BPO industry, the contributions of youth, and the organization’s future goals. He highlighted that BACCO’s current membership exceeds 400 companies, contributing approximately USD 800 million annually to Bangladesh’s economy. He added, “BACCO is working towards increasing this revenue to USD 1 billion by 2025 while creating 100,000 sustainable, mid-income jobs.”
General Secretary Faisal Alim, in his speech, emphasized BACCO’s aspirations for a stronger international presence in the coming years. He said, “We urge our member organizations to actively participate in international fairs where BACCO will always support you. At the same time, I request active involvement in BACCO’s nine internal subcommittees, as your feedback is the foundation of our annual action plans. We have drawn inspiration from the youth uprising in July-August, whose sacrifices are not only motivational but also a responsibility for us. Hence, our united effort towards a non-discriminatory, corruption-free Bangladesh will guide us forward.”
During the open discussion session, members addressed various issues, including the necessity of fire safety measures in BPO offices and training labs, the establishment of professional identity for BPO workers, skill enhancement through training programs, the adoption of modern technologies such as automation, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and language learning models, and alignment of policies with government stakeholders.
The event was attended by BACCO’s Vice President Md. Tanzirul Basar and directors Abu Daud Khan, Abdul Kader, Zayed Uddin Ahmed, Mehedi Hasan Zulfikar, and Saima Shawkat.
The closing remarks were delivered by BACCO’s Senior Vice President Md. Abul Khair, who expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic participation and cooperation of member organizations. He stated, “On behalf of the BACCO Executive Committee, I extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to everyone present at today’s event, especially our esteemed members and advisors, whose valuable guidance consistently propels BACCO forward.”
