The Bangladesh Computer Society (BCS) recently organized a day-long workshop addressing Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks and their practical solutions. The event, held at the society’s office in Kalyanpur, Dhaka, on Saturday, attracted over 100 professionals and volunteers from various sectors.

The session delved into the vulnerabilities that enable DDoS attacks to disrupt banking, financial, government, and insurance sector websites. Participants learned about securing networks, safeguarding servers, and countering malicious attempts to overwhelm web traffic. - Expert Insights:
Md. Arif Uddin (Limon), Technical Manager (Telco and SAARC) of Redware, presented real-life examples of DDoS incidents in Bangladesh. He also discussed global trends, highlighting how attackers exploit system weaknesses and measures to fortify defenses. - Hands-On Training:
Practical techniques for API security, email safety, and safeguarding servers and databases were demonstrated, providing actionable insights to attendees.
Future Plans:
BCS Deputy Committee Convener Md. Wahid Murad announced monthly workshops focusing on cybersecurity. The organization aims to equip professionals with the latest tools and techniques to counter evolving cyber threats.
Certification and Upcoming Events:
Participants received certificates from BCS Vice President (Academic) Zainal Abedin and Secretary General Allen Bobby. They were also encouraged to join the BCS ICT Fest 2025, in collaboration with BUET’s IICT, featuring poster design competitions, project showcasing, and a Capture the Flag (CTF) challenge.
