On Wednesday, October 2, at 10:30 AM, newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Professor Dr. A.M. Sarwar Uddin Chowdhury, held a press conference at Administrative Building-2. The event was attended by the President of the University Press Club, Nurul Islam Rudra, General Secretary Hasan Naeem, and representatives from various national and local newspapers.
During the meeting, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Chowdhury emphasized the university’s commitment to enhancing its rankings through a stronger focus on research. He expressed hope for the cooperation of faculty members, students, and journalists in this endeavor.
He expressed optimism about the overall improvement of the university, stating, “We are already working to overcome the current challenges faced by the university.” He highlighted ongoing efforts to address the shortage of important positions and resolve hall issues to facilitate a prompt return to classes and examinations.
To address students’ accommodation problems, the Vice-Chancellor announced plans for the rapid construction of residential halls and the swift resolution of gaps created due to the prolonged closure of classes and examinations. He also mentioned initiatives to enhance the quality of food in the residential halls and the establishment of a ‘Shahjalal Corner’ dedicated to the legacy of Shahjalal (RA) for the development of students’ latent talents.
