For the first time, Zeiss lens is added to Vivo V series smartphone in the country. The camera of Vivo’s new smartphone V40 has the lens of the world famous lens manufacturer Zeiss. Starting from the first footprints of man on the moon and winning numerous Oscars, the 178-year-old traditional lens manufacturer Zeiss has been leading the world of cinema-optics.
Zeiss’ lenses have produced numerous Oscar-winning films such as the ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy. The movie industry leading company has won one of the most prestigious and discussed Oscar awards in the world’s film industry in the science and engineering award category. According to movie rating platform IMDB, 278 movies have been shot using Zeiss lenses so far.
Zeiss lens cameras are the first choice for professional portrait photographers and cinematographers. Therefore, the joint R&D program of Vivo and Zeiss is working to create new milestones in portrait photography and cinematography in smartphones. Vivo V40 has three Zeiss main cameras. There is Zeiss Cinematic Portrait Video and Zeiss Style Bokeh feature. In a word, the Vivo V40 will bring a cinematic effect to the video in just a few seconds.
V40 users can transition to Zeiss Focus. That is, the camera focus will change according to the direction in which the main character is looking in the video. The main character will always be the highlight of the video and create a cinematic atmosphere. This transition of Zeiss’s focus on content creation is crucial. While creating a cinematic experience is quite difficult, Zeiss Focus Transition can be easily used on the Vivo V40 smartphone.
Bokeh effect enhances aesthetics in cinematography. With the ability to increase or decrease the blur effect on still subjects as desired, it is easy to use in photography. Videography or cinematography, on the other hand, is more complex and expensive to use. Zeiss Style Bokeh adds a special oval bokeh effect to cinematic video creation. Basically it gives a blur effect by calculating the depth of the frame, which keeps the main subject in focus and gradually blurs the background. The result is a classic film aesthetic to the video.
These two effects are very popular with professional cinematographers to tell a story in a cinematic manner. These special effects of Zeiss will be available in Vivo V40 in the joint venture of Vivo-Zeiss.
The company has been bringing co-engineered smartphones to the country since 2021 through the Vivo X series. Basically Vivo uses Zeiss camera lens technology in X series smartphones. So far in Bangladesh, Zeiss lenses have been used in three models of smartphones – X60 Pro, X70 Pro and X80. Shortfilm ‘Chokrakar’ is made with Vivo X80 smartphone with Zeiss lens. Technology lovers are going to get Zeiss technology for the first time in the V series.
