Md. Nahid Islam, Advisor to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, asked mobile operator Banglalink to consider the launch of unlimited internet packages in consideration of public demand.
The advisor made this request during the Banglalink delegation’s meeting with the advisor at the office of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications on Wednesday.
In the meeting, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banglalink and the Chief Executive Officer of the company’s owner, Veon Group, Kan Terzioglu, Banglalink Chief Executive Officer Erik Aas, Chief Corporate and Regulatory Officer Taimur Rahman and Company Secretary, Joint Director (Stakeholder Relations) Mokhlesur Rahman, and Chief Legal Officer Zahrat Adib Chowdhury participated.
In the meeting, Nahid Islam said that in view of the demand of the young generation, besides reducing the price of internet, all mobile operators should try to launch unlimited internet packages.
At the same time, Kan Terzioglu emphasized on reducing SIM card tax. And expressed his interest in investing more in Bangladesh if he gets a favorable environment and policy support. Zahrat Adeeb Chowdhury also informed the adviser about various obstacles in using their own app Toffee.
The adviser promised to discuss the issue of SIM tax with the Finance Ministry to resolve the issue and look into the matter.
