The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to investigate the corruption allegations against former Vice-Chancellor Munaj Ahmed Noor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University (BDU), Bangladesh’s first specialized government digital university, and two members of parliament.
ACC Deputy Director and Public Relations Officer Md. Aktarul Islam gave the information on Sunday (September 15). According to the information given, the academic activities of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University started from March 2019. In the financial year 2020-21, the department named Bachelor of Science in Data Management and Analytics program was launched before the department was approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Earlier, the institute established a data lab. 5 crore 94 lakh 64 thousand 202 taka is shown for setting up that data lab.
According to ACC intelligence, ‘I360 Bangladesh Limited’ was linked to ‘JV of BMIT Solutions Limited’ to give operational orders. Before making allocations for a particular project, the decision-making authority must be sure whether the proposed project is the best and most economical way to achieve the desired objective. In the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University data center construction project, the project was not properly pre-assessed.
