Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) informed that the young man who posted derogatory posts about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on social media is under the supervision of the army and is out of danger.
In a press release on Thursday (September 5), the ISPR said that on September 4, a person, Shri Utsav (22), was caught by local people at the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), Khulna Nagar, after posting insulting messages about the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on social media.
Later, more than 3000 local people came to the place and created chaos and started agitating to publicly punish the person. Armed forces reached the spot to control the situation.
At that time some disorderly crowd entered the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) and attacked the person. He was rescued alive by the efforts of the armed forces. He is currently undergoing treatment under army supervision and is out of danger.
According to the ISPR, a law enforcement case is pending against the man for offending religious values and he will be handed over to the law enforcement agencies subject to due process of law.
The ISPR also said that the Bangladesh Army is always committed to preventing extrajudicial killings and upholding the rule of law. In this regard, people are specially requested not to be confused by the rumors regarding the death of the person circulating on social media.
