Miscreants hacked two bKash workers and robbed them of 16 lakh 50 thousand taka in Baufal of Patuakhali district. Police arrested two people in this incident. The arrested two are Prince (23) and Sohag (18). Their house is in Sombaria Bazar area of Baufal Sadar Union. However, the robbed money has not been recovered so far.
The incident took place on Tuesday (August 20) around 12 noon in Naomala and Dashpara areas of the upazila.
The injured are Md. Mamun (32) and Md. Hiron (30). They are working as bKash workers in Patuakhali. Among the injured, Hiron has been admitted to Baufal Upazila Health Complex.
According to the injured and local sources, bKash workers Mamun and Hiron were going to Baufal by motorcycle from Patuakhali in the afternoon. On the way, when they reached the border area of Naumala and Dashpara, five armed men stopped the motorcycle. Later they snatched 16 lakh 50 thousand taka. On receiving information, two robbers were arrested from Thakur’s Hat area of Dasmina Upazila with the help of the OC of Baufal and Dasmina police station and army members.
Patuakhali bKash Manager Gobinda Chandra Pal said that Hiron and Mamun went to withdraw 16.5 lakh taka from a bank and distribute it to the agents. The robbery happened on the way.
Confirming this information, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Baufal police station Shonit Kumar Gayen said that legal action is being taken against the detainees. Efforts are underway to recover the money.
