সংস্থাটি জানিয়েছে, ব্যবহারকারীদের নিরাপত্তার জন্যই এমন ব্যবস্থা। ব্যবহারকারীরা নিয়ম লঙ্ঘন করতে থাকলে এটি নিষেধাজ্ঞা কার্যকর করা চালিয়ে যাবে।

হোয়াটসঅ্যাপ ১ এপ্রিল থেকে ৩০ এপ্রিলের মধ্যে মোট ৭১ লাখ ৮২ হাজার অ্যাকাউন্ট নিষিদ্ধ করেছে। এর মধ্যে, ১৩ লাখ ২ হাজার অ্যাকাউন্ট ব্যবহারকারীদের কাছ থেকে প্রতিবেদনের আগেই সক্রিয়ভাবে নিষিদ্ধ করা হয়েছিল। হোয়াটসঅ্যাপ তার ব্যবহারকারীদের জন্য একটি নিরাপদ এবং সুরক্ষিত পরিবেশ বজায় রাখতে অ্যাকাউন্টগুলোকে নিষিদ্ধ করেছে। এই অ্যাকাউন্টগুলো সংস্থার নিয়মের পক্ষে বেমানান এমন কিছু আচরণের সঙ্গে জড়িত ছিল। এর মধ্যে রয়েছে স্প্যাম মেসেজ, থ্রেট বা ভুল তথ্য ছড়ানো।
