Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali said that frontier technology-based research center will be built in the financial year keeping in mind the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution.
He conveyed the message while presenting the proposed budget for the financial year 2024-25 in the National Parliament on Thursday (June 6) afternoon. Finance Minister presented the budget of 797 thousand crore taka in the presence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The session was chaired by Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury
Mahmud Ali said that by 2031, initiatives will be taken to increase capacity in frontier technology in all sectors of the economy. At the same time, taking into account the challenges and possibilities of the fourth industrial revolution, a frontier technology-based research center will be built focusing on the technologies of the fourth industrial revolution, including artificial intelligence, cyber security, robotics, semiconductors, space and geospatial technology.
He said, the export volume of the ICT sector will be increased to five billion dollars in the next five years and to 50 billion US dollars by 2041. Planned activities will be taken to encourage innovation and research across the country, including at the grassroots level, along with creating standards for becoming smart in all sectors by enhancing the capacity of the sector’s stakeholders.
