Like every year, Nagad, a leading mobile financial service has paid Tk. 5 crore 51 lakh 37 thousand 558 as revenue to the postal department from the income of 2023. Tanveer A Mishuk, founder and CEO of Nagad Limited, handed over the check to Tarun Kanti Sikder, Director General (Additional Duties) of Directorate of Posts, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Bangladesh Secretariat.
At this time, the state minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak and Executive Director of Nagad Limited Md. Safayet Alam Senior officials of the two institutions were present.
According to the agreement between Nagad Limited and Postal Department, Bangladesh Postal Department receives 51 percent of the total revenue from the service of Nagad, while the remaining 49 percent revenue is received by Nagad Limited. Earlier, Nagad Limited has paid 1 crore 12 lakh taka in 2020, 3 crore 31 lakh 94 thousand 877 taka in 2021 and 4 crore 50 lakh 46 thousand taka in 2022 to the postal department.
State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak praised Nagad as a digital service of Bangladesh Postal Department in the event and said that due to this mobile financial service, the country is moving towards smart Bangladesh from digitization. Apart from this, congratulating the soon-to-be-launched Nagad Digital Bank, he expressed hope that Nagad Digital Bank will move towards making the country a cashless society.
After handing over the cheque, founder and chief executive officer of Nagad Limited, Tanveer A Mishuk said, ‘We always keep our promises. We started as a digital service of the postal department. For that we share the revenue with the postal department as per the agreement. Hopefully, our public-private partnership will last longer and open many more doors.’
