Bangladesh Open Source Network (BDOSN) and Bangladesh Science Popularization Society (SPSB) organized an exceptional event to celebrate National Children’s Day, the birth anniversary of the architect of independent Bangladesh, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. A special open day was organized from early morning with scratch programming, robot demonstration, puzzle games, rubik’s cube, sudoku, chess competition and science demonstration.
Since morning, more than fifty students of various schools of the capital participated in the National Children’s Day event. By participating in a special session of programming, Dhanmondi Gov. Boys’ High School student Md. Omar Mushtaq Zad expressed his excitement for learning how to make games, animation videos, cartoons through scratch programming. A robot was demonstrated before the students present. Sunarah Tabassum of Summerfield International School was surprised to learn that a human can control a robot.

Everyone was especially excited for the 3 brain games – Chess, Sudoku and Rubik’s Cube. Apart from this, Maksudul Alam Science Laboratory arranged some interesting science exhibitions. Everyone present was given the opportunity to show bazaar games, watching the funny game of changing the color of water and they also were given opportunity to observe through a microscope. Puzzle games, Rubik’s Cubes, Sudoku and Chess were played by everyone. BDOSN General Secretary Munir Hasan and Computer Services Limited Managing Director Mamluk Sabir Ahmad and many others spent time with the children. They spoke to the students as well as their parents. They also said to organize such open days regularly in the future. It should be noted that this day was organized in collaboration with Maksudul Alam Science Laboratory (MASLab), Bangladesh Robot Olympiad and Scratch Bangladesh.
